Roxanne Hoffman

Roxanne Hoffman (non-binary) runs the independent literary press Poets Wear Prada with Jack Cooper, and is the Zoom meister for the Brownstone Poets monthly reading series. Her words can be found in cyberspace (The Performance Poetry Preservation Project, Scarlet Literary Magazine, and HIV: Here & Now); set to music (David Morneau’s Love Songs); on the silver screen (2005 indie flick Love and the Vampire); and in print (The Bandana Republic: A Literary Anthology by Gang Members and Their Affiliates and, most recently, NYC from the Inside: NYC Through the Eyes of the Poets Who Live Here and Out Loud: An LGBT Literary Art Anthology). Her elegiac poem “In Loving Memory,” illustrated by Edward Odwitt, was released as a chapbook in 2011; their second collaboration, The Little Entomologist, in 2018. Current projects include a new poetry collection riffing Alfred Hitchcock — she’s about halfway through completing over fifty abecedarian poems, one for each of the famed director’s films. Roxanne also has been coaching other writers in honing their craft and self-marketing skills for successful publication, via weekly Zoom sessions, since 2020.

The Elk in the Glade: The World of Pioneer and Painter Jennie Hicks, from Crown Rock Media, is a 2022 Publishers Weekly Editors Pick. His Good Housekeeping will be out in 2023 from Poets Wear Prada. BIOS:

Jennifer Juneau is the author of the poetry collection More Than Moon (due out next month by Is A Rose Press) and the novel ÜberChef USA (due out October by Spork Press.) Her work has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes, the Million Writers award, and a Sundress Best of the Net and has appeared in the Café Review, Cimarron Review, Cincinnati Review, Columbia Journal, Evergreen Review, GWFM Anthology, Live Mag! Pank, Seattle Review, Sensitive Skin Magazine, Verse Daily, and elsewhere. She lives in Brooklyn where she is hard at work on her second novel and poetry collection.

Ellen Pober Rittberg’s poetry and fiction have been published in online journals includingBrooklyn Quarterly, Long Island Quarterly, Santa Fe Writers Project, and several anthologies including Persian Sugar in English Tea vol. 1 and Songs of Seasoned Women. Her book of poetry, Consider the Constellations, was published in 2009. The winner of several journalism awards, she also wrote several plays, which were performed off off Broadway and at festivals. By day, she is an attorney.

Marguerite Maria Rivas is a poet and essayist whose work has been published in numerous journals and anthologies including The America’s Review, Waterways, The Mas Tequila Review, Mom Egg, Waterways, and Quarterday Review, among others. Rivas has received grants and awards from the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, City University of New York, and A Room of Her Own Foundation. She is the author of a chapbook poems as well as a full-length volume, Tell No One. She is an associate professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College, where she teaches writing and literature.

Submit up to 4 poems at a time We would prefer prose pieces that are 2000 words or less, but we will consider longer pieces by merit. We will accept only one prose piece per writer per issue.
Art work, paintings, drawings, photos, are welcome.
Simultaneous submissions will be accepted with the understanding that we will be notified ASAP of publications in another magazine.

Home Planet News Online will accept poems that have been previously published in printed magazines, journals, or chapbooks with a distribution of 500 copies or less.

We will not accept poems or prose that has been accepted in an anthology or published in another online magazine.

Bios:

Stephen Bluestone taught English and film in the College of Liberal Arts at Mercer University for many years and now lives and works in New York City, where he was born. His volumes The Laughing Monkeys of Gravity and The Flagrant Dead were nominated for the National Book Award in Poetry. Bluestone has won The Greensboro Review Poetry Prize and The Thomas Merton Prize, as well as prizes in the Robert Penn Warren Competition and elsewhere. His work has appeared in Poetry, The Sewanee Review, The Hudson Review, and many other journals. His latest book is The Painted Clock.

Bill Considine was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. He is an honors graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School. He first studied writing poetry with Elizabeth Bishop. He writes verse plays, with productions at Theater for a New City and the Brooklyn Army Terminal, and a staged reading at Medicine Show Theater. He also has made poetry videos. His life includes a lengthy hiatus from creative work, but he returned to poetry several years ago. A poetry chapbook, Strange Coherence, from The Operating System, and a CD of poems with music, An Early Spring, from Fast Speaking Music, were published in 2013. A book of related verse plays, The Furies, was published by The Operating System in 2017. Tim Tomlinson is a co-founder of New York Writers Workshop and co-author of its popular text, The Portable MFA in Creative Writing. He is the author of the story collection This Is Not Happening to You, and the poetry collection Requiem for the Tree Fort I Set on Fire. His work has been published in China, the Philippines, Singapore, and Australia, and anthologized in the Brooklyn Poets Anthology, We Contain Multitudes: Twelve Years of Softblow, and Eternal Snow. He is a member of Asia Pacific Writers & Translators.  He teaches in the Global Liberal Studies Program at NYU.

Bios:

Chocolate Waters is a continuously evolving radical feminist poet and celebrant of the new power of the feminine. She began performing her work in the mid ’70s and has toured throughout the U.S. and parts of Canada. Her first three books of poetry are considered classics of the Second Wave, and her latest book, I Was A Closet Woman will be out later this year. She is currently conducting workshops for women on finding the unique truth and beauty in our poetry. Chavisa Woods is the author of three books of fiction:  The Albino Album, Love Does Not Make Me Gentle or Kind, and Things to Do when You’re Goth in the Country, which is forthcoming from Seven Stories Press in May, 2017, of which Booklist said, “ This Book is tight, intelligent, and important, and sure to secure Woods a seat in the pantheon of critical twenty-first-century voices.”

Woods has appeared at such notable venues as The Whitney Museum, City Lights Bookstore, Town Hall Seattle, The Brecht Forum, The Cervantes Institute, St. Mark’s Poetry Project, and others. She was the recipient of the 2013 Cobalt Prize for fiction, a finalist (second nomination) for the 2013 Lambda Literary Award for fiction, and a recipient of the Jerome Foundation award for emerging writers in 2009.

Alison experienced rave-levels of ecstasy when she found out she was shortlisted for the 2014 Erbacce Prize, down from 5,000 entries. She was also giddily bemused when was nominated for the Best of the Net a few years back, though she lost out to savvier scribes. Alison is also a staff book reviewer for Five 2 One Magazine. Alison has four chapbooks: From Dancing Girl Press, Monster Sermons; from Fowlpox Press, Miro’s Poesie and Clockwise Cats; and from Feline and Nothingness Press, Clockwise Cats: The Prequel.

 

 

Hilary Sideris is the author of Most Likely to Die, poems in the voice of Keith Richards (Poets Wear Prada 2014) and The Inclination to Make Waves (Big Wonderful 2016). Her new chapbook, A House Not Made with Hands, inspired by Vasari’s Lives of the Artists, is forthcoming from Poets Wear Prada. She lives in Kensington, Brooklyn.
