Come Celebrate 20 Years in the Light! Through the storms, through the fires, through the recession, despite the developers raising the rents and ousting people –the Alternative New Year’s Day Extravaganza continues! This annual event has become a tradition that gives voice to a culturally diverse group of performers of all ages. It is a multi-media event and includes musicians and artists of all kinds, in addition to the rambunctious, irreverent poets who have gathered together for the last two decades. Join us at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Café! Add your poetic language to the mix!

In addition to our performers this year we will intermittently feature a slideshow featuring the work of hundreds of visual artists who show at Sideshow Nation, the annual group show held early each year at Sideshow Gallery in Williamsburg.
DIRECTIONS: By subway, F train to the 2nd Avenue stop. Use the 1st Avenue exit and walk north on 1st Avenue away from Houston Street. Make a right on East 3rd Street and walk 2 and a half blocks until you reach #236. By bus, take the M14A to Avenue A and E. 3rd Street or the M15 to 2nd Avenue and 3rd Street and walk east, or the M14D to East 4th Street and walk west. By car, take the FDR Drive to the Houston Street exit and go straight onto Houston Street, make a right on Avenue C and a left on East 3rd Street.
